PANews reported on September 29 that according to CoinDesk, Zcash developers have released Udon, a new component derived from Project Tachyon, and merged it into Zakura Common to accelerate network expansion and privacy payment performance optimization. Previous optimizations of Zakura Common, the shared cryptography library used to generate and verify Zcash private transactions, have reduced the creation time of a single private transaction from more than 3 seconds to approximately 200 milliseconds. Udon forwards some of the calculations in Tachyon's proposed expansion plan into Common, laying the foundation for subsequent merging of multiple payments in the same proof and reducing the data load of each node. The long-term goal set by project lead Sean Bowe and the Dev Ojha team is to support more than 50,000 payments per second. Currently Udon is only released as software, the Tachyon upgrade has not yet been activated and still requires further development and security audits.
